Let Them Be Busy

This dispatch comes on the heels of a deep, visceral inspiration last night, sparked by a writing from Daughter of Umay entitled, “Girl at the End of the World.”

My response poured out this morning after learning that thousands of human beings are currently caged by ICE agents in what can only be described as Alligator Auschwitz32 people to 3 toilets, sharing a spigot for drinking water.

They’re swarmed by disease-carrying insects with no protection, subjected to round-the-clock lighting, and allowed just one shower every seven days.

A visiting congressman confirmed these inhumane conditions — along with the news that another 1,000 people are expected to be added to the nightmare. All of this, I believe, is happening on American soil.

I found myself wondering: Why aren’t we all descending on Florida like a swarm of angry hornets?

I called my congressperson.

And then… it dawned on me.
A different kind of answer.
One that comes from a girl who’s read the boys’ books, mastered many of the boys’ games, and now maybe, girl says:

Let Boy Be Busy.

Let boy cage boy.

Let him burn what he builds.

Let him do what he always does

to himself, to each other,

while calling it leadership,

calling it order,

calling it the how it is.

Because girl did not do this.

The girl did not build bombs.

The woman didn’t start the war.

The mothers didn’t draw these borders.

The rage I carry isn’t for control.

It’s for cleansing.

Let them be busy.

While they repeat the rituals of collapse,

we build something else.

We map another world,

quietly, carefully because, of course we do.

under their noise, under their nose.

A refuge. A revolution without spectacle.

We hold the girl.

Protect her. Heal her.

Not with steel but with sanctuary.

Not with rescue but with remembering.

Not with vengeance but with vision.

Because in this paradigm,

the only resistance that works

is the kind they don’t understand.

Love.
Soft, Strategic and un-caged

Let them be busy,
We’ve got futures to rebuild…
